Black Barn Hawke’s Bay Unoaked Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Sep-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is very fresh and pure with tightly bound aromas of white stonefruits and subtle notes of thirst-quenching minerals, unfolding nuances of citrus fruits and nuts. Dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate is brisk, refreshing and mouthwatering with crisp, racy acidity underlining the flavours of white stonefruits, citrus fruits, nuts and minerals. This is clear and focussed, the fruit forming a tight, light core. The mouthfeel has soft, subtly rounded textures balancing the acid zestiness, and the wine carries to a poised, stonefruit nuanced finish. This is a crisp and zesty, refined, unoaked Chardonnay with delicate stonefruit and citrus flavours with thirst quenching mineral notes and soft textures. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the Havelock Hills tank-fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine on light lees post ferment, with no MLF. 16.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $24.00
