Black Barn Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2010

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Sep-2011
Fruit from Ohiti-Matapiro, Havelock Hills and Tuki Tuki, fermented to 13.2% alc. and 7.0 g/L rs, 15% in seasoned French oak. Full straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues. This has a full, soft, restrained nose of ripe stonefruits, with honey and minerally elements, showing some depth and presence. Dryish to taste, soft, lifted floral, tropical fruit and honeysuckle flavours fill the mouth in an open and accessible style. The palate has moderate acidity adding to the richness, which carries through to an attractively nuanced floral finish. A very approachable and softly flavoursome wine to serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-3+ years. 17.0+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $25.90
