Black Barn Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Franc 2009

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 14-Sep-2011
Very dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red with purple hues, this has a very intensely fragrant nose of dark red berry and redcurrant aromas interwoven with spicy, cedary oak, the bouquet very fine and elegant in projection. Medium-full bodied, this is rich and concentrated with lifted redcurrant and red berry flavours, quite sweet and luscious, and harmoniously melded with oak cedar. There are waves of mouthfilling flavours that seamlessly flow through the palate, which is underscored by fine, supple tannins providing very fine, velvety textures. The finish is very long. Estate Havelock Hills fruit from the oldest vines fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged in French oak for 9 months. A refined wine that exudes aromatic red fruits interwoven beautifully with spicy oak. Drink with Mediterranean cuisine and hard cheeses over the next 7-9 years. 18.5+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $38.90
