Brilliant, full, straw-yellow colour with lemony-green hues. This is elegant but full on nose with ripe citrus and melon fruit aromas unfolding to reveal layers of refined nutty, spicy oak and nuances of toast and flinty lees, all harmoniously interwoven with detail and interest. Full-bodied, beautifully ripened citrus and stonefruit flavours are complexed by oak spices, nuts and flint, all supported with creamy, barrel-ferment textures which combine to form a rich, smooth and mouthfilling palate. The acidity is discreet, and the wine has good tension and underlying drive, and the wine exudes integration and balance. Some alcohol adds to the generosity and power on the long, rich and seamless finish. This is a rich, smooth and generous Chardonnay with ripe fruit power and oaking to match. Serve with roast pork and Mediterranean fare over the next 5+ years. Estate fruit hand-picked and WBP, fully barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 50% new French oak barrels, the wine undergoing 100% MLF and batonnage. 19.0-/20 Oct 2012 RRP $34.90
