Bisquertt ‘Petirrojo’ ‘Reserva’ Colchagua Valley Carmenere 2014

Other Red from Chile
Review Date : 02-Apr-2015
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, near impenetrable, a little lighter on edge. The nose is full with deeply packed aromas of blackcurrants and olives harmoniously melded with varietal stalk and stemmy nuances at the core. Medium-full bodied, bright, juicy and succulent fruit flavours of blackcurrants, olives and herbs fill the palate. The mouthfeel is up-front and lively with racy acidity underlining the fruit. Light tannin extraction provides a soft structure and texture, and the flavours are carried by the acidity to a clean, fruit-focussed finish with stalk and herb elements. This is a fresh, up-front, fruity Carmenere with classical currant and olive-like flavours and a supple, accessible palate. Serve with barbecued and grilled red meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Carmenere from the Colchagua Valley from 15 y.o. vines fermented to 14.0% alc., 30% of the wine aged 4-6 months in oak. 17.0+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $23.99
