Bisquertt ‘Petirrojo’ ‘Reserva’ Colchagua Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile
Review Date : 22-Feb-2014
Fruit from 12 y.o. vines in the Colchagua Valley fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 4-6 months in French oak barrels. Very full, black-red colour with some garnet on edge. The bouquet is elegantly presented with savoury blackcurrant, olive and herbal aromas intermixed with bacon-like oak and game meat notes. Dryish and medium-bodied, soft and light fruit flavours of blackcurrants, herbs and meaty game show with restraint. A fine line of tannin supports the fruit, and along with the acidity provides a dry mouthfeel and balance to the fruitiness. The fruit recedes, leaving extract and a grainy, dry finish. This is a savoury Cabernet Sauvignon with game notes and a dry, textured mouthfeel. Match with slow-cooked game meat and casseroles over the next 4-5 years. 16.5-/20 Feb 2014 RRP $24.95
