Hand-picked fruit given 24 hours skin contact, and indigenous yeast fermented to 11.0% alc., 27.5 g/L RS, TA 7.9 g/L and pH 3.27, the wine aged 9 months on lees. Bright straw-yellow colour with light green hues, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is soft and dense with fine and gentle lime and lemony fruit along with savoury floral and honied notes suggesting the beginnings of secondary development. Mineral elements unfold to provide a steely intensity and core. Medium to medium dry to taste, gentle and softly rich flavours of yellow florals, limes and honey feature on the palate. A little secondary, savoury detail is present. The mouthfeel is rounded and smooth, but underlined by very fine textures and grip, along with slippery acidity that lend poise and linearity. The wine flows to a lively, juicy finish with fine, drying textures. This is a soft and harmonious, gently flowing medium-dry Riesling with good poise and the beginnings of secondary development. Serve as an aperitif, and with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5-/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
