Bishops Head Waipara Valley Fume Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 29-Jan-2017
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, paler on the rim. The nose is elegantly proportioned with softly aromatic notes of ripe greengages, nectarines and green stonefruits entwined with delicate cool-spectrum cut grass, nettle and fresh herb elements, and hints of nuts. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the wine has an elegant core of sweet and aromatic greengage and nectarine fruit, with a layering of fresh herbs and nuances and nuts. The fruit is subtly rich and lush, and is balanced by fine phenolics and crisp, lacy acidity. The flavours flow along a slender line leading to a long green stonefruited finish. This is an elegant, oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with sweet greengage and aromatic stonefruit flavours on a slender palate. Serve with seafood and herb-marinated poultry dishes over the next 3 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Mairehau’ vineyard, indigenous yeast fermented in 450 L and 600 L puncheons to 13.0% alc., the wine aged on lees for 12 months in 70% oak and 30% new acacia wood barrels. 17.5/20 Jan 2017 RRP $30.00
