Bishops Head Waipara Valley Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 05-Oct-2015
Fruit from the ‘Fiddlers Green’ vineyard, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented in new oak to 13.0% alc., the wine then transferred to 2 y.o. puncheons for 11 months maturation on lees. Full, light golden straw-yellow colour, lighter edged. The nose is fresh and intensely concentrated with aromas of ripe citrus fruit entwined with lemon curd and buttery MLF elements and creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak detail. The aromatics are tight and steely in expression. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with a tightly bound core of lively citrus fruits melded with lemony butterscotch MLF and creamy, nutty oak. The palate follows a fine-textured line with lacy, lively acidity providing good tension and balance, and the wine leads to a long, lingering finish with citrus, buttery and toasty flavours. This is a tightly held, citrus-fruited Chardonnay with lemon curd, creamy and toasty complexities. Match with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5/20 Oct 2015 RRP $31.95
