Bird ‘Old Schoolhouse Vineyard’ Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2008

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 08-Feb-2011
This wine was cool-fermented to 14.2% alc. and 5.9 g/L rs, and given 3 months lees contact. It is an elegant Gewurztraminer that is still relatively youthful. Brilliant, lipid straw-yellow in colour, this has a piquant nose with lifted florals, honey, spices and a peppery-herb element. With a dryish mouthfeel and rather delicate structure, the lifted floral fruit flavours possess a lusciousness which contributes a subtle oiliness to the texture. Drinking well now, this will keep another 3-5 years and drink well with more subtle Asian and Middle Eastern foods. 800 cases made. 17.0-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $24.95
