Bird Marlborough Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jan-2014
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some depth and pale green hues on the edge. This has an elegant and delicately lifted nose of aromatic white stonefruits entwined with floral and honeysuckle notes. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of white stonefruits and pears are restrained and shy. The palate has good vinosity at the core, unfolding gently luscious and rich nuances. The mouthfeel is smooth with excellent fine, soft phenolic textures and the flavours flow easily to a light, and subtle, dry finish. This is a light, off-dry Pinot Gris with a smooth flowing palate. Match with Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese cuisine over the next 2-3 years. Fruit from the Rapaura district, given some skin contact and fermented with a small portion in French oak barrels to 13.6% alc. and 4.4 g/L RS. 4,000cases made. 16.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $19.95
