Bird Gisborne Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 01-Nov-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The nose is fresh with gently concentrated aromas of white and yellow stonefruits showing some depth, unfolding delicate yellow floral nuances and hints of nuts, spices and a suggestion of honeysuckle. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a soft, rounded core of light yellow stonefruit flavours with subtle hints of nuts, florals and honeysuckle. The fruit has a suggestion of unctuousness, enhanced by soft acidity. The wine flows smoothly, with some phenolic textures emerging to carry the palate to a soft, dry, moderately long finish of stonefruits and nuts. This is a soft, gentle, smooth flowing dry Pinot Gris ith a fine textured finish. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 2-3 years. Pinot Gris from the ‘Sun Valley’ vineyard in the Ngatapa Valley, Patutahi, undergoing skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless-steel, with a small portion in French oak barrels to 12.5% alc. and 3.5 g/L RS. 800 cases made. 16.5+/20 Nov 2015 RRP $19.95
