Bird ‘Big Barrel’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 18-Sep-2014
Even ruby-red colour with light purple hues on edge. The nose is softly full and voluminous with ethereal and lifted, soft red fruit aromas of strawberries and cherries, along with a fine herbal and red floral thread, and hints of whole berry confectionary. Medium-full bodied, bright and sweetly luscious soft red berry fruit flavours form a rounded mouthfeel with good weight and presence. Soft herbal nuances add interest. The palate is supple with positive tannin background and the wine has lively and bright acidity adding to the lusciousness and juiciness. The wine carries through with good energy and tension to a lingering finish with light strawberry notes. This is a lively, sweet fruited and supple Pinot Noir with soft red fruit expression. Serve with pasta, risottos, puck and pork over the next 5 years. Pinot Noir fruit from the ‘Dayvinleigh’, off SH63 near Renwick, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 900 L oak barrels. 1,500 cases made. 18.0-/20 Sep 2014 RRP $30.00
