Bernhard Ott ‘Fass 4’ Gruner Veltliner 2012

Gruner Veltliner from Austria
Review Date : 16-Mar-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The nose is subtle with soft aromas of herbs and a little waxiness, building in presence, showing classical varietal expression. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the weight and mouthfeel are features on palate. A fine phenolic core and line is cut by the acidity lending poise and vitality. The flavours of green stonefruits, and herbs are subtle, but positive and carry with good power and drive to a long finish. This is a restrained, but textbook Gruner Veltliner. 3-4 years ahead still. Wagram. Fruit from 5 sites from the Feuersbrunner Rosenberg vineyard, given skin contact and mostly indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc. and 2 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Mar 2015 RRP $45.00
