Bernard Shurr Cote Du Rhone Villages 2019, France

Blended Red from France - Rhone
Review Date : 15-Nov-2021
Full, deep ruby-red, lighter on edge. The nose is full and complex, aromas of riped bramble, blueberry coulis entwined with an enticing herbal scent and spice growing in volume. Full-bodied, the palate is rich, herbaceous aromas of dried sage, liquorice overlay bramble, spice and a hint of smoky minerals. The fruit is ripe with a good balance of power and herb detail, richness of dark herb, and floral linger on the finish. Chewy, fine-grained tannin display power and structure. This is a full-bodied, powerful Cote du Rhone Villages with abundant bramble fruit, herb and spice, and a structured palate with chewy tannin. Match with lamb stew and wild boar over the next 4-5 years. A blend of Grenache and 50% Syrah, handpicked, fermented in open-top fermenters to 14.5% alc, aged two to three year old large format oak for nine months. Unfined, minimal sulphur addition. Organic certified. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2021 RRP $29.99
