Bellbird Spring ‘Block Eight’ Waipara Sauvignon Blanc 2011

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 12-Sep-2012
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden hues, pale on rim. This has a softly full and gentle bouquet of ripe tropical fruits with honeysuckle notes, revealing savoury yellow stonefruit and nectarine aromas and some nutty oak. Dry and medium-full bodied, subtle flavours of gooseberries, nectarines and tropical fruits fill the mouth with building richness and lusciousness. The palate is underscored by fresh acidity providing good palate drive and cut, leading to a moderately sustained finish. This is a Sauvignon Blanc with good weight and presence behind the subtly rich, stonefruit flavours. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 2-3+ years. Fruit from ‘Block Eight', hand-picked, WBP and fully barrel-fermented with indigenous yeasts to 14.5% alc. and dryness, the wine aged in seasoned oak approx. 4-5 months. 17.5/20 Sep 2012 RRP $32.00
