Bell Bird Bay ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 01-May-2014
Bright, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The bouquet is full, broad and voluminous with youthful lifted esters, and up-front aromas of citrus fruits and stonefruits entwined with nutty, barrel-ferment notes. Medium-bodied, light and aromatic flavours of stonefruits are melded with creamy, nutty oak. Subtle butter, flint and smoke nuances add interest, and the wine is very easy and accessible. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with an underlying smooth, textured flow, and the palate leads to a lightly nuances, oaky, dry finish. This is a light, fresh and aromatic Chardonnay with a smooth mouthfeel. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 3 years. Clone 15, 6 and Mendoza fruit from the Bridge Pa Triangle, partially hand-picked, WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 10 months in tank and barrels with batonnage. 17.0/20 May 2014 RRP $25.00
