Bel Echo by Clos Henri ‘Terroir – River Stones’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 04-Jan-2016
Moderately dark ruby-red colour, lighter on the rim. The nose is fine in presentation with a firm heart of dark red cherry fruit melded with dark herbal nuances and notes of earth and minerals. Red florals and raspberry fruit emerge with aeration. Medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of dark red cherries and raspberries are up-front and gently luscious. Subtle herb, earth and mineral detail adds interest. The fruit expression is stylishly restrained, but the mouthfeel shows sweetness and juiciness, and is supported by fine, grainy tannins and balanced acidity lending a supple structure. The flavours recede as the wine flows to a light, dry, nuanced finish. This is a gently luscious, upfront cherry and raspberry fruited Pinot Noir with a fine, grainy structure. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Clones 10/5, 114 and 115 from vines 8-13 y.o., from ‘Greywacke’ soils, fermented in large oak vats to 14.0% alc., 40% of the wine matured in the vats and 60% in seasoned barrels. Certified BioGro organic. 17.0+/20 Jan 2015 RRP $31.00
