Very dark, black-hued ruby-red colour with garnet on the rim. The nose is full and well-packed with fulsome and robust aromas of blackcurrant fruit with red berry notes, and subtle, balanced oaking, the nose showing real depth and density. Full-bodied, the flavours of sweetly ripe blackcurrant fruit are entwined with redcurrant and black plum and berry elements, along with earthy nuances, and are up-front and mouthfilling. Oaking is subtle and supportive. The mouthfeel is robust with a fulsome structure and grip from positive tannin extraction. This has grip and plenty of presence, and a good line of fresh, lacy acidity lends brightness to the fruit which carries to a concentrated, sweet, blackcurranty finish. This is a full and robust, mouthfilling, blackcurranty Cabernet Franc with plenty of weight, energy and grip. Match with lamb shanks and slow-cooked game meat over the next 7-9+ years. 100% Cabernet Franc from ‘The Track’ vineyard, Mere Road, fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 27% new French oak. 18.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $25.00
