Batch Winery Thomas Legacy Pinot Gris 2019, Waiheke Island

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Northland & Auckland
Review Date : 01-Aug-2022
Bright, pale yellow with some depth and a gold hue, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full of complex and rich stonefruit, apple, hay, honey, and spice. Full-bodied, off-dry to taste, aromas of yellow apple and yellow plums enriched by honey, hay and five spice. A delicate, creamy mouthfeel possesses fine-textured phenolics, almost chalky. Hay, honey and spice aromas enriched the palate; lacy acidity enlivened and lent a crisp, moreish finish. This is a refined and elegant Pinot Gris with succulent fruit, barrel complexity, excellent balance, and moreish. Match with grilled monkfish and pork chops over the next 5 years. Estate fruit, spontaneous fermentation, 13.5% alc, 14 g/l RS, aged in seasoned French oak for 8 months. 856 bottles produced. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Aug 2022 RRP $75
