Barrington ‘River Block’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2017

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 29-May-2018
Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is refined with good volume of ripe, dark-red and black cherry fruit entwined with violet florals, unfolding some dark herb elements and suggestions of liquorice. This has intensity and excellent florality. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly proportioned with finely bound and youthfully taut flavours of dark-red cherry fruit lifted by dark-red and violet florals, along with subtle notes of dark herbs. The fruit forms an elegant core and is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction with balanced, soft acidity. The wine has good linearity and carries to a long, lingering finish of cherries and florals. This is an elegantly concentrated, refined Pinot Noir with dark-red and black cherry fruit, violet florals and herb notes on a finely extracted palate. Serve with poultry and pork over the next 5+ years. Fruit from the ‘Barrington’ vineyard fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 20% new oak. 350 cases made. 18.0/20 May 2018 RRP $29.95
