Barren Rock Central Otago Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 27-Aug-2017
Even ruby-red colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is initially light, shy and restrained, but subtly unfolds gentle notes of dark-red cherry and berry fruit with nuances of fresh herbs and nutty notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate has good depth and concentration of dark cherry and berry fruit which is enlivened by fresh acidity. The fruit is well-bound and a little shy in expression, but unfolds to reveal dark-red florals and subtle herb notes. The palate has light, grainy tannin extraction and with the acidity provides a degree of linearity, carrying the wine to a crisp finish with moderate length. This is an elegantly concentrated Pinot Noir with dark cherry and berry fruit, somewhat restrained in expression, but driven by fresh acidity and light tannins. Match with poultry and pork dishes over the next 3-4 yeas. Central Otago fruit fermented to 13.5% alc. 16.5/20 Aug 2017 RRP $19.99
