Barnsworth Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Syrah from Australia - Other
Review Date : 04-Jun-2014
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red with a lighter garnet rim. This has a soft, even bouquet of dusty, earthy red berry fruit aromas along with dried herb, pepper, cedar and spice notes harmoniously melded together. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, softly sweet, ripe plum and spiced red berry fruit flavours are enlivened by fresh acidity. The flavours are up-front and carried by a light, grainy tannin tine with crisp, racy acidity providing the energy and flow. The flavours of spicy fruits and earth are carried to a light, brisk finish. This is a soft, light, plummy, spicy Shiraz-based red with a fresh, lively palate. Serve with pasta, pizza and barbecued food over the next 2-3 years. 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, fruit from 90% Riverina, and 5% each from Hilltops and Coonawarra, fermented to 12.5% alc. with a portion of the blend aged in seasoned oak. 15.5+/20 Jun 2014 RRP $16.99
