Barbanera Chianti DOCG 2013

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 17-May-2015
Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, a little lighter on rim, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant with moderately concentrated aromas of fresh, primary dark red berry and cherry aromas lifted with subtle floral elements. Some leather, herb and earthy elements add detail to the aromatics. Medium-bodied and elegantly expressed, light fruit flavours of dark red cherries and raspberries are lifted by florals and entwined with savoury herbal notes. The fruit is up-front and forms a good core supported by light, supple tannins, and balanced acidity enhances the primary lift. The wine flows with some alcohol drive leading to a finish with light, savoury cherry notes. This is a light, fresh, up-front Chianti with savoury cherry fruit and a supple palate. Match with pizza, pasta and antipasto over the next 3+ years. A blend of Sangiovese with Ciliegiolo and Canaiolo, fermented to 13.0% alc. 16.5+/20 May 2015 RRP $14.90
