Banfi ‘Colle Pino’ Toscana IGT Merlot/Sangiovese 2012

Merlot from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 18-Jun-2014
Very dark, deep, black-hued purple-ruby colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegant and fresh with up-front aromas of ripe, dark berry fruits, plums and nuances of boysenberries, along with whole berry fermentation jam notes. Light-medium bodied, uncomplicated boysenberry and plum flavours are sweetened by jammy elements. The mouthfeel is soft and mellow in texture with gentle grainy tannins providing the dryness to balance the fruitiness. The acidity is low, contributing to the plumpness in the palate and the flavours flow to a soft, dry finish. This is a soft, mellow and light, plum and jam flavoured Merlot-based wine. Serve with antipasto, pasta and pizza over the next 2-3 years. Merlot and Sangiovese fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 2 months in French oak. 16.0-/20 Sept 2013 RRP $17.00
