Banfi Chianti DOCG 2012

Sangiovese from Italy - Tuscany
Review Date : 18-Jun-2014
Moderately dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The bouquet is soft and restrained with fresh raspberry and cherry aromas, quite primary in expression with a little herbal and earthy nuance. Notes of kirsch, jam and confectionary unfold. Light-medium bodied, light, fresh, primary red berryfruit flavours are enlivened by fresh acidity. This is attractively straightforward. Some grainy tannins frame the palate providing a dry, mouthfeel and texture that carry through to the finish. This is a light, fresh fruity Chianti with a dry, textured palate. Match with antipasto and pasta dishes over the next 3+ years. Predominantly Sangiovese fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged in tank 5-6 months. 16.0+/20 Aug 2013 RRP $22.00
