100% Chardonnay from Hawke's Bay, WBP and barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc. with 9 months maturation in oak, with lees stirring. Bright lemon-straw colour with a pale edge. This has a tight, steely nose with powerful and intense citrus fruit infused with spicy, nutty oak and buttery MLF elements. Medium-full bodied, this has intense and up-front citrus fruit flavours matched by plenty of spicy oak. Tropical fruits and butterscotch along with nuts form a rich and broad, mouthfilling amalgam. The palate is underlined by bracing acidity, providing some cut to the rounded, creamy textures. The acidity drives the palate and leads to a long, lively finish featuring citrus and mealy, nutty notes. This is a bold and flavoursome wine that has briskness balancing the creaminess.
