Ballasalla Central Otago Rosé 2014

Rose from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 18-Sep-2014
Pale pink colour with the faintest purple hue, lighter on rim. The nose is fresh and lively with light aromas of strawberry and cherry fruit with a subtle herb and minty underlay, lifted by red florals and delicate candy-floss nuances. Medium-dry in taste and elegantly weighted, the flavours of strawberries, florals and confectionary are slender and tightly held, but show good intensity. The fruit sweetness combines with the residual sugar to form a smooth flowing palate, and the wine is carried with fresh, lacy acidity to a light, off-dry finish. This is a light, medium-dry Pinot Noir rosé with some intensity of strawberry fruit flavours and sweet confectionary notes. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 18 months to 2 years. Clones 5 and 6 from the ‘Folding Hill’ vineyard in Bendigo, on skins for 4 days and fermented to 13.0% alc. and approx. 12 g/L RS. 140 cases made. 16.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $19.95
