Even ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly firm with tightly bound, fresh and vibrant aromas of dark-red cherry and dark raspberry fruit melded with thyme herb notes, along with subtle liquorice and fragrant violet floral elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate possesses sweet and luscious flavours of ripe dark-red berry fruit with notes of raspberries, thyme herbs and some liquorice, the fruit sweetness enlivened by fresh acidity. The mouthfeel is bright and lively and the fruit is supported by fine, light tannin extraction and structure. The wine carries to a light, dry, fine-textured finish. This is an up-front, elegant, sweet and luscious dark-red fruited Pinot Noir with a fresh mouthfeel. Match with poultry and pork over the next 4 years. Clones 5, 5, Abel and Dijon fruit from the ‘Folding Hill’ vineyard, not included in the ‘Estate’ blend, and some higher cropped fruit, hand-picked, fully destemmed, given a 5-7 day cold soak and fermented, partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new oak. 17.5/20 Aug 2016 RRP $32.00
