Bald Hills ‘Pigeon Rocks’ Central Otago Pinot Gris 2009

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-May-2011
Bright straw-yellow colour with a pale, youthful edge, this has concentrated aromas of white stonefruits and nectarines with an intriguing, complex herb, spice and nutty lees elements. Dry to taste, the nectarine and herb-like flavours have depth and good intensity, backed by some alcoholic power and fine phenolic textures which result in a dry finish. There is good acidity adding to the crispness. Named after the rocky cliffs where pigeons nest, near the 1 ha of Pinot Gris vines planted at the northern tip of the Bald Hills vineyard. Stainless-steel fermented to 14.32 % alc., and 3.4 g/L rs. Drink with antipasto, or match with poultry and pork over the next 2-4 years. 17.5+/20 May 2011 RRP $26.00
