Bald Hills ‘Last Light’ Central Otago Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-May-2011
So named as the Riesling block is on the sloping east border of the estate, capturing the last of the sun at the end of the day. The fruit is cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.62% alc. and 7.2 g/L rs. Brilliant pale straw-lemon yellow colour with some green hues. This has a very intense nose of limes and citrus fruits along with hints of toast, lifted by attractive floral and lemon zest nuances. Dryish on palate, this is soft textured but well-concentrated with lime, honey and toast flavours, showing good richness and depth. The wine has restrained acidity, but is still fresh and this provides a refined, long finish with lovely delicate, minerally nuances. Serve as an aperitif, or Match with more subtle Asian dishes over the next 3-5+ years. 18.0/20 May 2011 RRP $26.00
