Bald Hills Kirameki Single Vineyard Pinot Gris 2018, Central Otago

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 25-Sep-2020
Bright, light yellow colour with a gold shimmer, slightly lighter on the rim. Dusty fragrant bouquet, penetrating aromas of apple and pear, fresh and crunchy, melded with deep white florals and subtle honey. Dry-ish, nuances of apple and pear interweave honey and white blossoms, unfolds five-spice on the back palate. Medium-bodied, a fine and lightly dusty phenolic line make an elegant present; lively acidity flows along a fine texture line with poise. The fruit has just the right ripeness with balanced alcohol. Underlaying spices provide some weight and complexity. This is an elegant Pinot Gris with the right fruit balance and freshness on a fine-textured line. Match with pulled pork and Monkfish over the next 3-4 years. Fermented in stainless steel and a small portion of older barrels to 13.8%, 7.8 g/l RS. 18+/20 pts Sept 2020 RRP $30
