Bald Hills 3 Acres Pinot Noir 2020, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 09-Nov-2021
Deep ruby-red with good transparency, light on edge. The bouquet is softly full, generously filled the glass with blackberries, dark cherries, plums and spice. Medium-full bodied, aromas of blackberries, cherries and plums have a dark, ripe, concentrated core, reminiscent of black forest cake, showing a hint of cocoa and spice. A fine structure carries fine-grained tannin and lingers with a touch of cedar. This is a generous, dark-fruited Pinot Noir with a fine-grained tannin structure and broody rich cocoa element. Match with cured meat and lamb shoulder over the next 5 years. Destemmed, fermented in open-top fermenter to 13.7% alc, aged in French oak barriques for 12 months, 19% new oak. 18.5/20 pts (93 pts) Nov 2021 RRP $32
