Bald Hills ‘3 Acres’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 16-May-2011
This is a barrel-selection, made up primarily of clones 5 and 6, given a cold oak and fermented with 30% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine aged then 11 months in 35% new French oak barrels. Full, bright, ruby-red in colour, this has a firm and concentrated nose with dark berry and cherry aromas with some herbal interest. Full-bodied, the palate shows bright, fresh cherry and berry flavours along with elements of herbs, the up-front fruit rich and juicy, enlivened by the fresh acidity. The palate structure is firm, with a robustness, the tannins being the feature of the moderately sustained, dry finish. Match with Middle Eastern cuisine, especially duck and pork, over the next 5-6 years. 17.5-/20 May 2011 RRP $31.50
