Babich ‘The Patriarch’ Hawke’s Bay 2011

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 26-Nov-2013
Dark hearted ruby-red colour. This has a powerful and vigorous bouquet of dark curranty fruit, strong oaking, slightly rustic earthiness, the aromas still very primary. An array of black fruits forms the flavour profile, sweet and youthful blackcurrants lifted with spicy oak. Some complex savoury elements show, and the mouthfeel is one of amplitude, but backed by fine-grained tannin extract. The oaking is carried with the fruit on the finish. This is a robust and complex flavoured Bordeaux style with good oaking. 8-10 years. 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 14% Malbec, fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged 15 months in 40% new French oak. 19.0-/20 Nov 2013 RRP $70.00
