Babich Marlborough Pinot Gris 2015

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 22-Dec-2015
Marlborough fruit primarily fermented in stainless-steel, with a small portion in seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc. and 1.1 g/L RS, the oak portion undergoing batonnage. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, lighter edged. The nose is soft and light, unfolding good volume of fragrant pear fruit and aromatic white stonefruits and florals, along with fresh fermentation esters, all harmoniously presented. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a soft, up-front and accessible core of white stonefruits and florals with pears and esters elements. The fruit is lifted by refreshing acidity, and along with light phenolic textures and grip carries the wine with good vinous linearity to a light, delicately aromatic fresh finish. This is a light, aromatic Pinot Gris with upfront pear fruit and fresh acid energy and line. Match with seafood and Asian cuisine over the next 2+ years. 16.5/20 Dec 2015 RRP $22.00
