Babich Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Feb-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with lemony hues, pale on edge. The nose is light with fresh aromas of white and yellow stonefruits, lifted rose-petal florals, hints of minrerals and some honeysuckle notes. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate features well-concentrated and deep flavours of white and yellow stonefruits enriched by honeysuckle notes. The palate has a rounded core with good underlying power and drive, the alcohol carrying the phenolic line. Soft, discreet acidity adds to the mouthfeel and vinosity, and the wine carries through to a long, dry finish with some honied flavours. This is a well-weighted, dry Pinot Gris with honied notes and some power and drive. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Marlborough fruit mainly tank fermented with a small percentage fermented in old French oak to 14.0% alc. and 3.8 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 17.0-/20 Jan 2015 RRP $22.00
