Babich Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Dec-2015
Bright, light straw-yellow colour, paler on rim. This has a softly full nose with aromas of cut grass and gooseberries, fresh herbs and cooler spectrum nettle and leaf notes. The nose has breadth and depth, showing pungent elements and lantana. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of cut grass and gooseberries, herbs and nettle leaf fill the mouth. This is open and accessible and the palate possesses good vinosity. Little phenolic grip and acidity adds to the structure which carries to a light, brisk finish with savoury herb, grass and lantana notes. This is an up-front and flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc with cooler-spectrum notes and some phenolic presence. Serve with salads and vegetables and Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from two estate vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 3.4 g/L RS, the wine spending a short time on lees. 16.0+/20 Dec 2015 RRP $22.00
