Babich Family Estates ‘Individual Vineyard – Wakefield Downs’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 23-Dec-2015
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The nose is softly fresh with near ethereal aromas of cut grass, nettles, white florals, herbs and minerals, all harmoniously entwined. The aromatics grow in breadth and depth to show a tightly bound minerally core. This is classically Awatere in expression. Very dry to taste and medium-bodied, this has a seamlessly bound, taut core of cut grass, nettles, green stonefruits and white florals. The mouthfeel is smooth and the wine flows effortlessly, following a linear core with very fine textures and lacy acidity. The palate has linearity and carries to a very long, dry finish with grass and minerally notes. This is an elegant, taut and very dry, but seamless flowing Sauvignon with classical cooler spectrum Awatere Valley flavours of cut grass, nettles and white florals. Serve with seafood over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the ‘Wakefield Downs’ Awatere vineyard, fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., and 2.0 g/L RS. 18.0/20 Dec 2015 RRP $25.00
