Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Wakefield Downs’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Sep-2012
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is softly full with excellent intensity and depth of green capsicums, dark herbs, grass and gooseberries, growing in volume in the glass. Dry to taste, full, ripe gooseberry fruit flavours show subtle sweetness and lusciousness in balance and harmony with the soft, ripe acidity. This is finely textured and quite richly mouthfilling. The openness and accessibility combined with the juiciness is the feature on the palate. The flavours are carried through to a lush and fulsome finish with lingering, sweet gooseberry and grassy notes. This is a lusciously fruity and approachable Sauvignon Blanc to match with Asian cuisine over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the ‘Wakefield Downs' vineyard in the Awatere Valley, cool-fermented in stainless steel to 13.2% alc. and 4.4 g/L rs. 18.5/20 Sep 2012 RRP $25.00
