Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Headwaters Organic‘ Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2013

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Mar-2014
Hand-harvested fruit from the ‘Headwaters’ vineyard, Wairau Valley, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc. and 1.9 g/L RS. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with lighter green hues on edge. Refined and clear aromas of white pepper, celery leaf and herbs feature on the bouquet and build with good intensity. Dry to taste, elegantly presented and restrained flavours of herbs, white pepper, stonefruits and florals form a soft mouthfeel. The palate is guided by a fine phenolic line, with drying, thirst-quenching acidity that carries through to a light, soft finish. This is an up-front, dry Gruner Veltliner of good fruit clarity with soft, underlying phenolics. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5-/20 Mar 2014 RRP $27.00
