Babich Family Estates ‘Individual Vineyard – Headwaters Organic’ Marlborough Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Jul-2016
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on the rim. The nose is full, soft and rich with aromas of ripe citrus fruits melded harmoniously with layers of creamy barrel-ferment, lemon-curd and butterscotch MLF, and toasty oak detail. The aromatics have an underlying thread of freshness. Medium-bodied, this has soft, full and up-front flavours of tropical fruits and ripe citrus fruits entwined with creamy and nutty barrel-ferment layers and butterscotch MLF. The flavours are gently mouthfilling, but the palate possesses a good core with acidity and fine textures that carry the wine to a soft, lingering finish of citrus fruit, toast and butterscotch. This is a soft, mouthfilling Chardonnay with citrus, toast and butterscotch flavours. Match with roast pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Headwaters’ vineyard near Renwick, fermented in new and seasoned oak and tank with indigenous yeasts to 12.5%, alc., the wine aged on lees until the mew year, undergoing MLF. Certified BioGro organic. 18.0-/20 Jul 2016 RRP $27.00
