Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Headwaters Organic Block’ Marlborough Gruner Veltliner 2014

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Sep-2014
Fruit from the ‘Headwaters’ organic block, Wairau Valley, given some skin contact and warm-fermented at 18-19°C in tank to12.1% alc. and 2 g/L RS, the wine given some batonnage. Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour, light-edged. The nose is light with subtle aromas of white stonefruits, flowers and delicate fresh herb nuances. Dry to taste and light-bodied, shy flavours of herbs, stonefruits and white florals form a soft and delicate core. The fruit possesses some sweetness and succulence, unfolding on mid-palate. Soft acidity and discreet phenolics carry the wine with balance and gentleness. The flavours recede, leaving a clean, dry, lightly herbal nuanced finish. This is a soft and light dry Gruner Veltliner with subtle herb and floral flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto and with white meat dishes over the next 2 years. Certified BioGro organic. 16.5/20 Sep 2014 RRP $27.00
