Bright, light straw-yellow colour, pale green on rim. The bouquet is very fresh and steely with white stonefruit and citrus aromas, tightly bound, revealing subtle mineral, flinty lees and some butterscotch MLF nuances. Medium bodied and elegantly proportioned, tight and focussed flavours of stonefruits and citrus fruits feature on the palate. The flavours have intensity and linearity, backed by racy acidity. Oak nuttiness and spicy lift unfolds, and the palate develops a gentle creaminess to meet the acid crispness. The flavours and smooth textures lead to a long, lingering, refreshing finish. This is an elegant, fruit focussed Chardonnay with delivate creaminess and fresh acidity. Match creamy sauced seafoof and poultry dishes over the next 4 years. Fruit from the ‘Irongate’ vineyard, 15% fermented in 15% new French oak to 13.4% alc., the wine aged 6 months in barrel, with 15% undergoing MLF. 17.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $25.00
