Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Fernhill’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2013

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 01-Sep-2014
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with lemony hues, light on rim. This has an elegantly proportioned, slender and finely expressed nose of apricots, orange zest and exotic florals. The aromatics are pure and precise, and unveil subtle herbal and musky elements in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of lifted apricots, exotic orange zest and yellow florals form a softly concentrated amalgam and core. The mouthfeel is suggestive of oiliness and unctuousness and some alcohol drive adds to the richness. Soft acidity enhances the rounded palate core as it flows to a lingering, aromatic finish. This is a very elegant, exotic Viognier with a subtle richness and opulence. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern seafood dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Fernhill’ vineyard fermented with a small portion in French oak to 13.0% alc. and 4.5 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
