Brilliant straw-yellow colour with a pale rim, this is softly concentrated with a densely packed nose of ripe apricots and tropical fruits with layers of ginger spice and mineral nuances. Dry and medium-bodied, the flavours of apricot kernels, tropical fruits and ginger form a concentrated and driven core, with alcohol warmth a little noticeable. The mouthfeel is round and a soft texture pervades the palate, but the wine finishes with dry, lively clean minerally notes. Fruit from the ‘Fernhill' vineyard tank fermented to 12.5% alc. and 2.8 g/L rs. This is a concentrated, yet soft textured Viognier with exotic fruit and a clean cut to match with Middle Eastern influenced seafood and poultry dishes over the next 2-3 years. 17.5+/20 Jan 2012 RRP $25.00
