Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Cowslip Valley’ Marlborough Riesling 2013

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 01-Sep-2014
Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues. The nose is still youthfully restrained with a concentrated core of lime fruit, green apples and minerals, along with an overlay of free sulphur lending a suggestion of earth and toast. This is very Germanic in style. Dry to taste and light-bodied, elegant flavours of limes and apples show along with a dose of SO2. The flavours are up-front and lacy acidity enlivens the thirst-quenching mouthfeel. The flavours recede as the wine flows, following a dry, textural line to a soft, light finish with apple and mineral nuances. This is a youthful, dry Riesling with lime fruit and a whiff of sulphur that will dissipate over the next 4+ years. Serve as an aperitif and with seafood. Fruit from the ‘Cowslip’ vineyard, Waihopi, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.5% alc. and 12 g/L RS, TA 7.4 g/L and pH 3.05. 16.5+/20 Sep 2014 RRP $25.00
