Babich ‘Family Estates’ ‘Individual Vineyard – Cowslip Valley‘ Marlborough Riesling 2012

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Mar-2014
Fruit from the ‘Cowslip’ vineyard, Waihopi, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 10.3% alc. and 12 g/L RS. Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is fine and tightly concentrated with aromas of lime fruit, toast and savoury nuances of kero and honey, showing real intensity. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features a rounded, but concentrated core of toasty limes and citrus fruits, entwined with honey notes. The mouthfeel is even with very fine textures and balanced background acidity. Up-front and with drive and good linearity, the flavours flow to a light, soft and dry finish. This is an elegant, up-front dry Riesling with complex secondary toastiness appearing. Serve with grilled seafood and with Mediterranean fare over the next 4+ years. 18.0/20 Mar 2014 RRP $25.00
