Babich ‘Black Label’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Feb-2015
Fruit from estate vineyards cool-fermented in stainless-steel with a small portion in old oak barriques to 13.0% alc. and 3.6 g/L RS. Bright, light straw-yellow colour with some depth, pale on edge. Fresh, tightly bound and elegant aromas of pure gooseberry fruit are lifted by lime and tropical fruit notes, unfolding mouthwatering mineral and white floral elements with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of gooseberries and tropical fruit are lifted by while floral and mineral elements. This has a balanced and harmonious mouthfeel with a soft-textured core and fine, lacy acid freshness. The wine has a gentle energy and drive that leads to a long, lingering, thirst-quenching minerally finish. This is a fine-textured, aromatic Sauvignon Blanc with a harmonious mouthfeel. Match with salads and vegetables, and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. 17.5+/20 Jan 2015 RRP On-premise only
