Babich ‘Black Label’ Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Feb-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues and some depth. This has a soft, open nose with good breadth of fresh, yellow stonefruit aromas intermingling with florals, honey, and flinty lees and nutty interest. The nose grows in depth and intensity with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the mouthfeel is rounded and full, with good presence and power. Ripe yellow stonefruit flavours are harmoniously melded with honeysuckle, and nuances of nuts and minerals. The acidity is restrained and provides subtle tension. Some alcoholic power leads the wine to a dry, lingering finish. This is a well-concentrated and rounded dry Pinot Gris with a harmonious mouthfeel and some underlying power. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3-4 years. Marlborough fruit tank fermented with 20% fermented in old French oak to 14.0% alc. and 2.8 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Jan 2015 RRP On-premise only
